Although I was raised by my parents in the faith, it wasn’t until I was well into adulthood that I started reading scripture in earnest for myself and felt a personal relationship with the Lord. You might say I dove in with the zeal of a convert. There’s no religious education quite like that doled out by the little old ladies of the Tuesday morning bible study at my first Lutheran church. Let me tell you, you don’t show up if you’re not ready to be honest about your joys, fears, successes, and heartaches, and are ready to hear about which five verses from the Bible best apply to each!
After having worked in the world of banking and finance for a decade, I stayed home to focus on the family. Later, with my son Anton preparing to enter kindergarten, it came time again to reallocate my time and talents. I prepared to start nursing school, and when the opportunity to take over administration of the church office came up, I jumped at it. I now happily do both.
When I’m not proofing the Sunday worship folder or harassing you for articles for the newsletter, I can usually be found dragging Anton from one activity to the next, reading up on fluids & electrolytes, editing a page or two of my never-ending novel-writing project, or working a sudoku puzzle.
